Nephew of late MG Ramachandran, M C Chandran, son of MG Chakrapani, MGR's elder brother, succumbed to Corona-virus attack on September 11, 2020. The death came at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General hospital in Chennai where he was undergoing treatment for the last few days. He was 75.

The FIR was filed for allegedly bribing the middleman to get the Election Commission to allot the Two Leaves symbol allotted to his faction.
