A crucial fact that the AIADMK party and the media have missed is that the Disproportionate Assets case is mainly about former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, and whether she is guilty or not. The Supreme Court judges have to find Jayalalithaa guilty in this case and convict her, and only then can they go on to Sasikala, Ilavarasi and V N Sudhagaran, the other three accused in the case.

The Supreme Court granted former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa a Diwali bonanza by freeing her on interim bail and suspending the conviction of the Bengaluru special court of a four-year jail term. Jayalalithaa will leave Bengaluru prison shortly and reach Chennai on Oct 18, along with her close aides Sasikala, V N Sudhagaran and J Ilavarasi, who were also granted bail.

The Supreme Court has put off hearing on AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa's bail plea to October 17, 2014.
Turning down the submission of lawyers representing Jayalalithaa for an immediate hearing on the bail petition, the Supreme Court fixed Friday as the date for the hearing. This means that Jayalalithaa, convicted in the wealth case on September 27, will continue to be in Bengaluru prison at least till Friday.
