Bengaluru:
A special sitting of the Karnataka High Court will take up on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, the bail plea of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, jailed in the disproportionate assets case.
A Special Court in Bangalore had convicted her and three of her close aides to a four-year jail-term
each on September 27.
On September 30 morning, the high court had adjourned the bail application to October 6 after Bhavani Singh, the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) in the Special Court that convicted Jayalalithaa, informed the judge that he had not received any official communication on his appointment as the SPP to handle the appeal too.
Thereafter, the lawyers of Jayalalithaa moved an application before the High Court Registry for urgent hearing of the bail plea on Wednesday, October 1. This was accepted.
The bail application and the appeal against the special court order will come up for hearing at 10.30 a.m. on October 1.
