The Supreme Court has refused to transfer the case of disqualification against AIADMK MLAs supporting T T V Dinakaran. A petition was filed by disqualified MLAs supporting Dinakaran seeking to transfer the case from the Madras High Court to the Supreme Court. However, the court said the case could be transferred to a new judge, Justice M Sathyanarayana, replacing Justice S Vimala.

T T V Dinakaran, Sasikala’s nephew and general secretary of an AIADMK faction has alleged that the IT raids conducted against Sasikala family members in various parts of the country were carried out at the behest of Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi Palaniswamy and his AIADMK group and by the Centre with a view to drive them out from the political arena.

The IT department on October 9 morning raided the office of Jaya TV channel at Eekkaatuthangal in Chennai, and the premises of several relatives of V K Sasikala including Dinakaran, Dhinakaran, Vivek Jayaraman (Sasikala’s nephew) who runs the channel and Ilavarasi’s daughter in Tamil Nadu.
