The ruling BJP at the Centre found a mixed bag in the Assembly elections in five States, sweeping Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, but losing in Punjab, and trailing in Goa and Manipur. The BJP is poised to win over 300 Assembly seats in UP, and 58 out of 70 seats in Uttarakhand, but lost to Congress in Punjab, and was marginally behind the Congress in Goa and Manipur. If the Congress maintains its lead and goes on to form the government in Goa and Manipur, it can maintain a bold face.

The BJP High Command on March 25 released the first list of 54 party candidates for the May 16 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The list includes National secretary H Raja, senior leaders Vanathi Sreenivasan and Pon Vijayaraghavan.

Shots were fired near PM Narendra Modi’s residence in New Delhi on November 18 night. This was shrugged off as accidental firing by police van staff around 8.30 p.m. Police have ordered an enquiry into the case of accidental firing.

BJP reduced to an also-ran party in Delhi
The ruling BJP at the Centre suffered the ignominy of a devastating and crushing defeat at the hands of the AAP, falling from 31 seats to just three in the recently held Delhi Assembly elections.
