Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol Thirumavalavan will contest the Chidambaram Lok Sabha seat as part of the DMK-led front in Tamil Nadu. Thirumavalavan said he would seek a symbol for his contest, while his colleague D Ravikumar, former MLA, would test his fortunes in the Villupuram constituency, contesting on the DMK’s Rising Sun symbol.

Chief Minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa on Monday released the list of AIADMK candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, retaining three sitting MPs — M. Thambidurai (Karur), Dr. P. Venugopal (Tiruvallur) and P. Kumar (Tiruchi), and giving tickets to eight former MLAs but largely going in for new faces with good academic qualifications. However, the Left parties are shocked.
