Chennai:
AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala, convicted to four years prison term in the Disproportionate Assets case, left the Kuvathur
resort on Feb 14 night, and began preparations for her journey to surrender before Bengaluru court.
The Supreme Court convicted Sasikala, V N Sudhagaran and Ilavarasi, along with Jayalalithaa, in the DA case, under which the first
three would have to undergo imprisonment for four years besides a fine of Rs 10 crore each. The SC has also said that the three
would have to surrender before the Bengaluru trial court immediately.
Accordingly, Sasikala began making preparations to leave for Bengaluru. A meeting of the AIADMK Legislature Party (LP) was held
at Kuvathur after the verdict when Minister and Headquarters secretary Edappadi Palanisamy was unanimously elected LP leader who
would stake claim to form the government.
After the Governor invited EPS and some of the ministers to Raj Bhavan this evening, EPS handed over the resolution of the LP, and
submitted a list of MLAs who supported him. The AIADMK hopes Governor would invite him to form the government soon.
Having effected a smooth election of the LP leader, Sasikala then began her journey to Bengaluru.
