63.7 per cent of the votes cast by 3 p.m. in Tamil Nadu, 70 in Puducherry

An estimated 63.7 per cent of the electorate in Tamil Nadu had cast their votes for the Assembly elections till 3 p.m. on May 16. Brisk polling had been witnessed in several districts of Tamil Nadu right from 7 a.m when polling commenced in the State.
The voting percentage had touched 70 in Puducherry and 62 in Kerala.
In Tamil Nadu, the choice is among four chief ministerial candidates-- AIADMK's J Jayalalithaa, DMK president M Karunanidhi, Third Front leader Vijayakanth and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, besides the BJP.
In Tamil Nadu, 232 seats would go to polls, with voting for Aravakurichi and Thanjavur constituencies having been deferred.
Voting is on despite rains in some parts of the State.
Among those who cast their votes were Chief minister J Jayalalitha, DMK president M Karunanidhi and his son M K Stalin, leaders of the third front including Vijayakanth, Vaiko, G KL Vasan, Thol Thirumavalavan, G Ramakrishnan and R Mutharasan.
Kerala would see polling for its 140 seat-assembly. In Puducherry, 30 seats would go for polls.
The polling started at 7 a.m. and would end at 6 p.m.
