42 per cent of votes cast in TN by 1 p.m, 50 per cent in Puducherry

Over 42 per cent of the voters had exercised their franchise in Tamil Nadu by 1 p.m. on May 16, CEO Rajesh Lakhoni said here.
Talking to mediapersons, the CEO said elections were by and large free and fair.
Voting hours may not be extended despite requests from various parts due to rains in various parts of the State as those in the queue before 6 p.m. would be given tokens and allowed to cast their votes. However, the Election Commission would announce its decision by 3 p.m.
In Puducherry, over 50 per cent of the electorate had cast votesby 1 p.m.
In Kerala, the voting percentage was 43.8 per cent by 1 p.m.
