Chennai:
MDMK general secretary and convenor of Makkal Nala Koottani (People's Welfare Front) Vaiko has welcomed the decision of the DMK to launch its own front for the May 16 elections to the Tamil Nadu Assembly. He said the invitation of DMDK leader Vijayakanth's wife Premalatha that like-minded parties could approach for talks regarding working with the DMDK, Vaiko said this was a positive move.
"She said their aim was to drive away the AIADMK and the DMK from Tamil Nadu. This is our motto as well,” Vaiko said adding that the PWF would take its steps in a measured manner.
Vaiko said DMDK leader Vijayakanth's announcement of keeping away from the DMK and going it alonehas had “demolished the day dreams” of a few who tried to use DMDK to capture power.
“In one stroke, Mr. Vijayakant has vanquished the air castles that some had built. They thought that they could use DMDK to get power,” said Vaiko added.
