TANGEDCO claims to have fully restored power in Chennai

Chennai:
TANGEDCO has claimed to have restored power supply in all parts of Chennai on war footing basis. All the sub-stations which were water logged have been dewatered using heavy duty pumps brought from other parts of the State.
After dewatering, the sub-stations have been dried and supply has been restored including LT & HT consumers. In Chennai City, out of 24715 distribution transformers 24452 distribution transformers have been restored.
Out of 63686 Pillar Boxes, 63172 Pillar Boxes have been reconnected. Power to public utility services like BSNL and other Cell phone providers was restored on 5th and 6th itself.
In water logged streets, TANGEDCO is co-ordinating with Chennai Corporation and Metro Water for dewatering. As soon as water is evacuated power supply will be restored in these few streets also.
Men and material from other parts of the State and also from within Chennai where power has been restored have been diverted for this purpose.
Electricity minister Natham Viswanathan said power had been restored in over 90 per cent of the areas in Chennai.
