CM announces Rs 500 crore for Tamil Nadu flood relief

CM J Jayalalithaa has sanctioned Rs 500 crore for flood relief operations in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu.
She announced this after her visit to some flood-affected areas in R K Nagar, Kolathur, Madhavaram and Ambattur on November 16.
Jayalalithaa said that in Chennai alone, out of 587 places which had reported water-logging, water had been pumped out in 207 places. In the other 380 places, Corporation officials were working to pump out the water. 16 relief camps had been set up where 5,335 persons, evacuated from low-lying areas, were being looked after, she said.
90,000 food packets had been distributed in 101 places, Jayalalithaa added.
