Former MP N Rajendran found dead in Koilpatti

Former Rajya Sabha member N Rajendran, who hailed from Kovilpatti in Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu, was found dead in his car with a bullet injury. The Kovilpatti West police, who seized a pistol from the vehicle, said Rajendran might have committed suicide.
Passerby found him dead in his car, parked near the new bus terminal at Kovilpatti, around 6 p.m. They informed the police.
The body was sent to government hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered. Investigation is on.
Police sources said Rajendran made his last phone call to his assistant, Ganesan, before leaving his house.
Rajendran was a Rajya Sabha member between July, 1995 and July 2001, representing AIADMK. However, he resigned from the primary membership of the AIADMK in August, 2000 and joined DMK.
He had been a treasurer of DMK's Tuticorin district unit for some time before distancing himself from active politics.
