Chennai:
MDMK general secretary Vaiko has suffered another setback with the resignation of party treasurer Masilamani, just a day after the exit of Salem district secretary K.C.V. Tamaraikannan, women’s wing secretary Kumari Vijayakumari and a few others.
Masilamani said Vaiko’s announcement on electoral options alliances — of maintaining equidistance from both the AIADMK and the DMK— would only succeed in aiding the enemies of the Dravidian movement.
Vaiko brushed aside the impact of these resignations and instead blamed DMK leader M K Stalin with attempts to break his party after pretending to be a friend.
“Those who enjoyed power have quit the MDMK and are on the lookout for MLA and MP posts. The MDMK’s strength lies in its cadres and not on its leaders,” declared Vaiko.
He said the MDMK had never aligned with the DMK for Assembly elections, and therefore the question of forming an alliance with that party for the 2016 Assembly polls did not arise.
