August 9:
Anandan back as Minister
Former Minister M S M Anandan, who was re-inducted into the Tamil Nadu cabinet, was sworn in as the Forest Minister on August 9. Anandan represents Tirupur North Assembly constituency.
AIADMK general secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal and other cabinet ministers, were present when Anandan was formally inducted as Forest Minister at the Raj Bhavan.
Governor K Rosaiah administered the oath of office and secrecy to him.
The governor had recently approved the recommendation of the chief minister to allocate the portfolio of forest to Anandan.
Anandan was left out of the Jayalalithaa-led cabinet that was sworn in on May 23 after her acquittal in the wealth case by Karnataka High Court.
Highways Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami was earlier holding additional charge of the portfolio of Forest.
This is the second change made in the AIADMK cabinet after Jayalalithaa was sworn-in as Chief Minister.
Transport Minister V Senthil Balaji was dropped from the cabinet on July 27 and his portfolio allotted to Industry Minister P Thangamani as additional charge.
