Chennai:
The DMK on October 11 appealed to the Chief Justices of the Supreme Court and Madras High Court to initiate contempt proceedings against AIADMK workers for allegedly denigrating the Karnataka special court judge who convicted AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa in the wealth case.
“The Chief Justices of the Supreme and Madras High courts should take contempt action against AIADMK ministers and partymen,” a resolution adopted at the meeting of DMK’s lawyers’ wing here said.
The resolution, however, did not specifically name any leader of the AIADMK for what it called “denigration” of the judgment of Bangalore Special Court Judge, John Michael Cunha.
The resolution alleged that the denigration of the judge and acts “inimical” to the cordial relationship between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu were being carried out by AIADMK functionaries.
Another resolution urged the DMK functionaries to take appropriate legal action in their respective districts against “AIADMK ministers and workers” for the violence and damage caused in the post-verdict phase.
The DMK functionaries had been asked to conduct a propaganda drive in all districts on the disproportionate assets case and the Bengaluru court verdict against Jayalalithaa by using social media and micro blogging sites and other communication avenues like the Short Messaging Services (SMS), another resolution said.
