Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Vaiko will contest from the Virudhunagar constituency. MDMK also released names of candidates for the other six seats it would contest in Tamil Nadu as part of the NDA.
The party candidates for the other constituencies are – Mallai Sathya (Kancheepuram), A Ganesamoorthy (Erode), Masilamani
(Sriperumbudur), K Alagusundaram (Theni), Sadan Thirumalai Kumar (Tenkasi) and S Joel (Tuticorin).
The BJP on march 20 announced the formation of a six-party alliance in Tamil Nadu for the Lok Sabha elections. The MDMK had been allotted seven constituencies.
Vaiko will launch his campaign at Silaiman near Madurai on March 23. He said he had appealed to BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to visit Tamil Nadu and address people in the birth place of Kamaraj. Vaiko was elected thrice to the Rajya Sabha and twice to the Lok Sabha from the Sivakasi constituency. In the 2009 LS elections, he was defeated by Congress candidate B Manik Tagore in Virudhunagar.
