Chola tours would be held on regular basis:
Chennai 2000 Plus Trust, a registered charitable trust which has obtained exemption from IT under section 80G, and seeks to create awareness about ancient Chennai and promote tourism through cultural and heritage tours and events, will conduct Heritage Tours to highlight Tamil Nadu's cultural and historical roots. For example, Journey with Vandhiya Devan would be launched on January 16 at 6 a.m. from Chennai and return to Chennai the same night. For example, the 7th century Devaram songs of Paadal Petra Sthalams like Takkolam, Thirumalpuram and Thiruvallam, with special emphasis in Brahmadesam, would be highlighted during these tours, and stories about the Chola inscriptions would be provided by eminent Epigraphist Dr. S. Rajavelu, former Epigraphist of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).   
 
The Devaram songs would be sung by eminent musicians at these venues, while short meetings would also be held to explain the significance of the inscriptions at these places including temples. We request you to kindly accord approval to hold these meetings, to begin with from Jan 16, and on other occasions during 'CHENNAI 2056 Quarterly Art Festival' that is to be held by our Trust in association with Chennai Culture magazine, Southern India Chamber of Commerce (SICCI), Mylai Thiruvalluvar Tamizh Sangam from January 13, 2024, to April 14, 2024.

Chennai 2000 Plus trust, in association with Chennai Culture magazine, Southern India Chamber of Commerce (SICCI), Chennai Nirubagal Sangam, Mylai Thiruvalluvar Tamizh Sangam, and others, takes great pride in presenting unique and exclusive CHOLA SPECIAL Heritage Tours -- Travel with Vandhiya Devan (I) and Ponniyin Selvan and Vandhiya Devan (II) - for a first-hand glimpse into the lives of the real Chola characters of 1,000 years ago in north Tamil Nadu, including in and around Chennai, northern and southern Tamil Nadu. 
 
Epigraphists, Musicians to recount Chola tales from Inscriptions
 
These special packages, designed by Chennai 2000 Plus trust, have been carefully and craftily prepared in consultation with epigraphists who can read and convey a thousand tales of the Chola kings, queens, princes and pricesses, from Inscriptions, and musicians who will present the songs of the Chola period, in an authentic manner. The idea is to recalibrate the ambience of the Chola period in actual locations.
 
These Heritage trips are being held with the assistance of the State Government in a bid to boost tourism in Tamil Nadu government, and place it on the global map of tourism to earn precious foreign exchange and stimulate the domestic sector, as also provide real-time exprience of the State's culture to tourists both domestic and foreign. 
 
Musicians to recreate Chola ambience
 
Locations hitherto not visited, hymns not sung, tales not told -- these are the highlights of the Chennai 2000 Plus tours.
 
One can travel with epigraphists, historians and musicians, to discover the real world of the Cholas. Some of the trips may be for 2 days, others 3 days. The fee will include night halt at good hotels, air-conditioned buses, and experts as Guides, including Thiru S. Rajavelu, former Epigraphist of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and musicians like musician-experts Thiru Simmam Kumar, and Thiru Ragavan Manian (disciple of Thiru Balamuralikrishna and who acted as Thygarajar in a recent play by Bombay Gnaanam) for some of these Tours.
