New Delhi: Sukesh Chandrasekhar, involved in the Rs 50-crore bribery deal with TTV Dhinakaran to help the latter get the AIADMK Two Leaves symbol, is a serial conman who is wanted by the police in several States.  There are nearly 50 cases pending against him in various States.

Chandrasekhar was nabbed by the Delhi Police's Crime Branch and Rs 1.3 crore was recovered from him.

Chandrasekhar had joined hands with actor Leena Maria Paul, and together the two were said to have conned several businessmen, politicians, banks and were known as 'Bunty and Babli'.

He has posed as a relative of almost all the Chief Ministers in the South, including posing as M Karunanidhi's grandson, relative of former Union minister M K Alagiri, a friend of Nikhil Gowda, son of former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, and so on.

Chandrasekhar was arrested by Kolkata police a few years ago in a cheating case worth several crore rupees.

A native of Bengaluru, Chandrasekhar was drawn to crime right from his teens. An expert drag racer, he wanted to buy luxury cars and thus began his acts of conmanship to purchase fast cars.

A smooth talker, Chandrasekhar had studied only upto Class X but could speak in eight languages including Tamil, Gujarati and Spanish.

Several cases were registered against him in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

He went into the big league after he met actor Leena Maria Paul, who came to Bengaluru to learn dentistry. Chandrasekhar promised her a lucrative film career. Later, she joined him in the dexercose of conning people and stripping them of their money.

The two would flaunt big luxury cars, bodyguards and car with beacons to fool their victims. They believed he had links with powerful politicians.

Sukesh was arrested in August 2007 on charges of cheating a senior citizen of Rs 1.4 crore by promising help in a land deal. He claimed that he was a friend of Nikhil Gowda, son of former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Ironically, In 2011, Sukesh was arrested in Bengaluru based on a tip-off from Leena Paul when she complained to the Bangalore Crime Branch that Chandrasekhar cheated her by promising her a job in the film industry. Thereafter, she teamed up with him.

In another incident, Chandrasekhar conned two people, a spa owner and a Tamil actor, of Rs 5 lakh after promising to help them purchase government cars at a lesser price.

Actor Leena Paul and Sukesh Chadrasekhar were accused of a Rs 19-crore fraud involving a Chennai-based business couple and a nationalised bank in March 2013. Chandrasekhar posed as a Karnataka government official who wanted a Rs 132-crore sanitary napkin machine order from a company called Future Techiniks Private Limited.

In 2015, the Delhi Police arrested the two while they were in hiding at a luxury villa, paying a rent of Rs 4 lakh per month.

They had a fleet of luxury cars, including several Aston Martin, a Rolls Royce, a Land Cruiser, a Hummer, a BMW, and an Audi.
