Time has ripened for the government to take hard decisions and take remedial measures, says Thiru G . Chidambaram, former member of Tamil Nadu Planning Commission, in a review of the White Paper recently released by T. The scope to increase tax rates is practically nil and the government should review the subsidies and freebies but not impose a heavier burden on the common man. Tax revenue was likely to increase in near future.
