Dravidian die-hard Muthuvel Karunanidhi has emerged as a national leader in the past two decades. An important factor in national politics, Karunanidhi's 94th birthday fete on June 3 is being used to project him as a key player in the national scene in the run-up to the Presidential polls and a pillar for the platform against the BJP and the NDA in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
