Pullela Gopichand delivers Key-Note Address of GAM 2020

Padma Bhushan Pullela Gopichand, Indian Badminton ace and National Coach, delivering the key note address of GAM 2020, an alumni meet of NIT Trichy, said with hard work, blessings of the teachers and the Lord, “nothing is impossible”.
Gopichand narrated how he became successful as a Badminton player and coach. It was a story full of struggles, heart break points and frustration. Yet, he never lost hope and continued with his zeal and focus to get to the finishing point. He told the packed house of NITians that one should respect the teacher, the institution and the family to achieve goals.
The Director of NIT Trichy, Dr. Mini Shaji Thomas inaugurated the Global Alumni Meet in Chennai. Over 1,200 alumni from all over India and the world were present at the convention. In her welcome address, she pointed out that in the last decade the institution had made rapid progress on all fronts and the industry has acknowledged this fact by providing not only jobs to its students but also collaborating on several important issues like environment, new product development and more recently for producing Electric Vehicles (EVs).
An alumni group led by B.V. Ramana announced that within 24 months, the Alumni would contribute 3 Million USD for Infrastructure and Research at NIT Trichy.
A new world class stadium will also be built at a cost of Rs.6.20 crore with funds to be raised by the Alumni.
M. Krishna Sai, President, RECAL, in his welcome address said that NIT will grow into a great institution with the support of alumni, faculty, the Directors and with support from the government and industry.
NIT Trichy will soon have more PhDs come out from its portals, thanks to the generosity of its past students , who have together, taken on the responsibility to ensure that the institution produces more world class research scholars in different engineering verticals from their college by contributing USD 3 Million in a next 2 years.
