Chennai:
India skipper M S Dhoni, at the receiving end of a fierce attack on the basis of his association with tainted Chennai Super Kings and India Cements, has offered to resign from the post of CSK captain and Vice President of India Cements Ltd, sources said.
Dhoni is said to be extremely upset over the developments especially the way his name has been dragged into the spot-fixing controversy.
Dhoni is said to have discussed with India Cements chief N Srinivasan over the phone on March 28 morning and had then urged that his resignation from the two posts be accepted.
Statements have been made about Dhoni's version to the Mudgal committee about the role of Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan in Chennai Super Kings.
Dhoni is said to be upset over the tarnishing of his image.
The problem for CSK is that its image will suffer if Dhoni makes an exit from the two posts. India Cements management is said to be talking to Dhoni and trying to dissuade him from any resignation move.
