DMK wins Periyakulam Assembly byelection by over 20,000 votes

Chennai:
DMK won the Periyakulam Assembly constituency byelection for which was held on April 18, 2019. Its candidate K S Saravanakumar was declared elected, defeating his nearest rival Mayilvel M by 20,320 votes.
Saravanakumar secured 88,393 votes (44.33 per cent) as against 68,073 votes (34.14 per cent) of Mayilvel.
Among others who trailed were Kadirkamu K (AMMK) 26,338 (13.21 per cent)., Prabu K (MNM) 5,727 votes (2.87 per cent) and Shobana T (NTK) 5,825 votes (2.92 per cent).
The seat was held by AIADMK in 2016.
22 Assembly constituencies are up for grabs in the by-elections in Tamil Nadu.
