DMK wins Perambur Assembly byelection by over 68,000 votes

Chennai: DMK has won the Perambur Assembly byelection in Tamil Nadu. Its candidate RD Shekar RD defeated his nearest AIADMK rival R S Rajesh by 68,023 votes. 

Shekar bagged 106,394 votes (56.32 per cent) as against 38,371 votes (20.31 per cent) of AIADMK candidate.

Among others who trailed were P. Vetrivel (AMMK) 6,281votes (3.32 per cent) , U. Priyadarsini (MNM) 20,508 votes (10.86 per cent), S. Merlin Suganthi (NTK) 8,611 votes (4.56 per cent).

The seat was held by AIADMK in 2016.

22 Assembly constituencies are up for grabs in the by-elections in Tamil Nadu.
