DMK wins Poonamallee Assembly byelection by over 60,000 votes

Chennai: The DMK has won the Poonamallee Assembly byelection held in Tamil Nadu. DMK candidate A Krishnaswamy has been elected, defeating his nearest AIADMK rival G Vaithiyanathan by a margin of 60,096 votes.

Krishnaswamy secured 136,905 votes as against 76,809 votes by the AIADMK candidate.

Among others trailing were Elumalai T A (AMMK) 14,804 votes, Jagadish Kumar A (MNM) 11,772 and P Bharathi Priya (NTK) 10,871.

The seat was held by AIADMK in 2016.

22 Assembly constituencies are up for grabs in the by-elections in Tamil Nadu.
