DMK candidate L. Idhayavarman won the Thiruporur Assembly byelection

Chennai:
DMK candidate L. Idhayavarman won the Thiruporur Assembly byelection in Tamil Nadu. He defeated his nearest AIADMK rival Arumugam S by 21,013 votes.
The DMK candidate bagged 103,248 votes (47.53 per cent) as against 82,235 votes (37.86 per cent) of AIADMK candidate Arumugam.
Among others trailing were M. Kothandapani (AMMK), U. Karunakaran (MNM) and S. Mohanasundari (NTK).
The seat was held by AIADMK in 2016.
22 Assembly constituencies are up for grabs in the by-elections in Tamil Nadu.
