DMK leads in Puducherry Assembly byelection, ahead of AINRC

Puducherry: K Venkatesan of the DMK has established a lead in Thattanchavady Assembly bypoll in Puducherry, defeating his nearest AINRC rival P Nedounzejiane by 1,539 votes.

The DMK has been supported by the Congress, Left parties, MDMK, IUML and VCK among others.

The AINRC was backed by AIADMK, BJP, DMDK, PMK and others.
