DMK candidate Maharajan ahead of his brother in Andipatti Assembly bypoll

Maharajan A (DMK) leads in Andipatti Assembly constituency of Tamil Nadu. He is ahead of his brother, Logirajan A (AIADMK) by 1,633 votes.
Maharajan secured 30,636 votes (42 per cent) as against 29,003 votes (39.76 per cent) of Logirajan, his brother. The margin is 2.24 per cent.
Among others trailing are Jeyakumar R (AMMK) with 7,961 votes (10.91 per cent), Alagarsamy G (MNM) and Aruna Devi (NTK).
The seat was held by AIADMK in 2016. The constituency is marked by high number of Thevar and Dalit votes and is considered a part of the Thevar belt in southern Tamil Nadu.
