DMK candidate Vilwanathan wins Ambur Assembly bypoll by 37,767 votes

AC Vilwanathan (DMK) has been declared elected from the Ambur Assembly by-election in Tamil Nadu. He defeated his nearest rival J. Jothilinga Ramalinga Raja (AIADMK) by 37,767 votes.
Vilvanathan polled 96,455 votes (55.93 per cent) as against 58,688 secured by AIADMK (34.03 per cent). .
Among others trailing were R. Balasubramani (AMMK), A.Kareem Basha (MNM) and N.Selvamani (NTK).
The seat was held by AIADMK in 2016.
22 Assembly constituencies are up for grabs in the by-elections in Tamil Nadu.
