New Delhi:
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has conveyed a strong message to both the NDA and the Opposition through the walkout of its members even before the debate on no-confidence motion against the NDA government began in the Lok Sabha.
The BJD has 19 members in Lok Sabha after resignation of its member Jay Panda.
While the NDA had sent out feelers to the BJD seeking its support, the stand of the BJD has come as a shock to the BJP-led NDA. The BJD is wary of the moves by the BJP to destabilize its government by wooing dissidents and rebels.
Floor leader of the BJD, Bhartruhari Mahtab said Odisha had not benefited from the 10 years of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule nor the four years of the NDA government. He added that the debate was not relevant to Odisha and its people, and therefore they saw no point in participating in the debate.
