Kamal meets Karnataka CM, can be a bridge, slipper

Tamil actor and politician Kamal Haasan met Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru on June 4 and discussed the issue of sharing of Cauvery water between the two States. Responding to Kumaraswamy’s call to be a bridge between the two States, Kamal Haasan said he was ready to be a slipper.
Kumaraswamy later said there was need for maintaining harmonious relationship between the two States and to expedite the resolution of the issue, keeping in mind the interests of farmers of both the States. These issues were discussed with Kamal Haasan in mind, were discussed.
Asked if he was prepared to hold talks with Tamil Nadu on the Cauvery issue, Kumaraswamy said he was willing if the Tamil Nadu government was ready.
Replying to a question, Kumaraswamy said the issue of Kaala, the Rajinikanth starrer in Karnataka was not released. “That is left to the Film Chamber,” Kumaraswamy said.
Kamal Haasan told mediapersons in Chennai on arrival from Bengaluru that Kaala was not discussed.
Kamal said he came as representative of Tamil Nadu people and not as an actor or a political leader. He said he was teady to be the bridge between the two States. “We need water for kuruvai crop”, Kamal said and added Kumaraswamy responded positively.
Kamal Haasan also felt courts should be the last resort.
He said there was no need for harmony between the two States.
