Chennai:
Former Finance minister 'Navalar' V R Nedunchezhiyan's son Nedunchezhiyan Mathivanan on March 13 joined the AIADMK OPS
group shortly after meeting former chief minister O Panneerselvam at his party office.
Nedunchezhiyan Mathivanan said his father late V R Nedunchezhiyan and mother Visalakshi Nedunchezhiyan had always held OPS in
high esteem. His simplicity had earned praise from all quarters, Mathivanan said, adding that he was happy to work for the party led
by OPS.
Shortly after the meeting, Panneerselvam said he welcomed the entry of Nedunchezhiyan Mathivanan into the party, and added it was
a matter of pride for the party.
The party recalled that Navalar, fondly called Nadamaadum Palgalai Kazhagam, (Walking University), was a prominent pillar of the Dravidian movement, and was No. 2 in the cabinets of Anna, MGR and J Jayalalithaa.
