Sasikala pays respects to Jaya at memorial before Bengaluru trip

V K Sasikala, AIADMK general secretary, convicted along with Jayalalithaa, V N Sudhagaran and Ilavarasi, commenced her journey from Chennaito surrender before the Bengaluru trial court as directed by the Supreme Court. Before leaving Chennai, she went to the Jayalalithaa memorial and paid respects to the departed leader.
Jayalalithaa, Sasikala, Ilavarasi and Sudhagaran were convicted in the DA case. While Jayalalithaa is nore, the portion of the judgment relating to her imprisonment abate but the other provisions relating to seizure and auction of Jayalalithaa properties and assets in accordance with the SC order will be enforced. Jayalalithaa had been fined Rs 100 by the trial court and this will be realised through the auction of the seized assets.
Sasikala returned from the resort on February 14 night after a meeting of the AIADMK Legislature Party (LP) which elected Edappadi Palanisamy as the LP leader. Palanisamy staked his claim to form the government, presenting a list of 124 mlas.
Meanwhile, Sasikala last night appointed her nephew T T V Dinakaran as the AIADMK deputy general secretary, shortly after admitting them into the party, Dinakaran and another relative Dr Venkatesh.
Dinakaran and other relatives of Sasikala had been expelled in December 2011. Dinakaran is a former MP of the party.
