CM Panneerselvam hopeful of Jallikattu solution after PM meet

Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam, after a morning meeting with PM Modi, said the State and the Central governments would soon take steps to ensure that Jallikattu was conducted.
Speaking to mediapersons after meeting Narendra Modi in New Delhi, Panneerselvam said Modi gave a patient hearing to his list of demands. “He (Prime Minister) said the Supreme Court’s judgment on Centre’s notification was being awaited and the Centre would be supportive of the action that would be taken by the State government on the issue,” Mr. Panneerselvam said.
“I would like to say that along with the Centre, we (Tamil Nadu government) would take immediate steps to ensure Jallikattu is conducted. You will soon see the action of the State government,” he added.
Panneerselvam said urged action on the State government’s request for Central funds of Rs. 39,565 crore towards drought relief for all 32 districts of the State.
Asked about police action against Jallikattu activists and students, Panneerselvam said there were no such incidents.
