Dhanapal will be Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker again

Chennai: P Dhanapal, outgoing Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Assembly, will continue to be the Speaker of the House. The AIADMK on may 25 named Dhanapal (Avinashi MLA) as its nominee for the post of Speaker of the 15th Assembly. Outgoing deputy speaker and Pollachi MLA, V Jayaraman is the party nominee for deputy Speaker of the present Assembly.

Elections to the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be held on June 3. They are likely to be elected unopposed as the opposition does not have sufficient

House strength to defeat the AIADMK nominees.

Finance minister O Panneerselvam was named Leader of the House, while Ariyalur MLA S Rajendran will be the Chief Whip.
