Stalin to take over as Leader of Opposition in Assembly

DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin is all set to become the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil nadu Assembly, following his election as the leader of the DMK Legislature Party on May 24.
The meeting fo the party MLAs, presided over by M. Karunanidhi, also elected former Minister Duraimurugan as its deputy leader in the Assembly, R. Chakrapani, elected from Oddanchatram, as party whip and former Minister K. Pitchandi as deputy whip.
Karunanidhi urged partymen to adopt corrective measures and not allow a repeat of some betrayals that had already taken place.
The DMK cannot be decimated,. Karunanidhi said adding that on the contrary, enemies of the DMK had been destroyed. The party had seen their designs in the past and they have disappeared, he added.
Karunanidhi said the present situation had taught a lesson to the Election Commission and the officials who had conducted the polls.
This is the second time Stalin had become the leader of the party in the Assembly. He had earlied led the DMK between 2011 and 2016 after Karunanidhi decided against holding the post. Karunanidhi had then said that he could not attend the House as arrangements were not made to ensure a comfortable seating arrangement for the wheelchair-bound leader.
