Chennai:
Seeking to put an end to the controversy over DMK leader M K Stalin not being seated in the front low during the swearing-in ceremony of the AIADMK ministers on May 23, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on May 24 said there was no intent to show disrespect to him or his party. Jayalalithaa reciprocated Stalin’s greetings to her and said she looked forward to working with him and his party “for the betterment of the State.”
Meanwhile, Stalin welcomed her statement and said it would benefit the State if she followed a similar approach in the Assembly and allowed the Opposition to discuss issues concerning the people.
People of Tamil Nadu expected such an approach, Stalin said.
Unlike in the previous Assembly, where the DMK members were not allowed to speak, Jayalalithaa should ensure that there was space for the Opposition in the Assembly, Stalin said.
