Jayalalithaa elected as AIADMK legislature party leader

AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa was today unanimously elected as Leader of the AIADMK Legislature Party, to pave the way for her return to power as Chief Minister of the State following the victory in the May 16 Assembly elections.
The meeting was chaired by AIADMK presidium chairman E Madhusudhanan. The meeting was attended by 132 MLAs.
The resolution of the Legislature Party would be handed over to Govenor K Roaiah and the party would formally stake its claim to form the next government.
Earlier in the day, Jayalalithaa garlanded the statues of Periyar EV Ramaswami Naicker, C N Annadurai and M G Ramachandran I Chennai. She was greeted by enthusiastic party personnel on both sides of the roads during her travel.
