AIADMK establishes early lead over DMK in Tamil Nadu

The ruling AIADMK has established an early lead over the DMK and the other parties after three rounds of counting in the May 16 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, with the AIADMK ahead in 126 constituencies and the DMK in 82. The Third Front is leading in one constituency and the PMK in four seats.
232 seats went to the polls on May 23. In Aravakurichi and Thanjavur, the deferred polls wil be held on May 23 and counting will be taken up on May 25.
The AIADMK is leading in all constituencies in Tiruppur district, while DMK is ahead in all six constituencies of Kanniyakumari district.
Among those ahead are former Speaker D Jayakumar (AIADMK) in Royapuram, Thol Thirumavalavan (VCK) in Kattumannarkoil on behalf of the Third Front.
However, the DMK is leading in several constituencies in Chennai, where some AIADMK ministers too are trailing.
