233 file nominations for AIADMK, 4123 file papers in TN

233 candidates filed their nominations on behalf of the ruling AIADMK on April 28 with just one day to go for the last date for filing of nomination papers for the May 16 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu. They filed their papers simultaneously. 4,123 persons have filed their nominations in Tamil Nadu so far, comprising 3,649 men, 472 women and two transgenders.
Party Supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had already filed her papers on April 25. 226 belonged to the AIADMK and seven to minor allies who are contesting on the AIADMK symbol.
Among those who filed their nominations on behalf of AIADMK on April 28 were O Panneerselvam (Bodinayakkanur Assembly), Natham Vishwanathan (Aathur), B Valarmathi (Thousand Lights), D Jayakumar (Royapuram), C Ponnaiyan (Saidapet), Velumani (Thondamuthur) C V Shanmugam (Villiupram), Edappadi K Palaniswami (Edappadi) and P Thangamani (Kumarapalayam).
BJP State unit president Tamizhisai Soundararajan filed her nomination for the Virugambakkam constituency.
Tomorrow is the last date for filing of nomination papers.
The scrutiny would take place on April 30 and the last date for withdrawals is May 2.
