New Delhi:
The AIADMK will win the May 2016 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu but the lead will be a slender one, according to an opinion poll conducted by C-Voter in association with Times Now and India TV. However, a News Nation opinion poll predicts a hung Assembly in Tamil Nadu, with DMK slightly ahead of the ruling AIADMK.
The C Voter opinion poll shows that Jayalalithaa will retain power with 130 seats in the 234-seat Assembly. remain unchallenged.
The opinion poll also has some bad news for BJP which, it says, will fail to get off the mark.
Jayalalithaa's party, the AIADMK and its allies, are projected to get 130 seats in the 234-seat assembly, while the DMK will have to settle at 70, the poll shows.
Other regional parties are expected to fare better with the opinion poll giving them 34 seats and a seat share percentage of 25. The AIADMK will win 39 per cent of the popular votes, while the DMK will manage to garner 32 per cent of seat share.
The BJP has, however, given out a word of caution. "Never predict Tamil Nadu as a final outcome, it has always surprised India," BJP leader GVL Narsimha Rao said.
The DMK has, meanwhile said it is too early to give Jayalalithaa an edge.
However, News Nation has projected a hung Assembly in Tamil Nadu, with DMK ahead of the ruling AIADMK. News Nation opinion poll has placed DMK at 107-111 seats, ahead of AIADMK tally of 103-107 in the 234-seat Assembly. The Vijayakanth Front will perform well bagging 14-18 seats with a 22 per cent vote share, says the News Nation poll.
The poll projects 33 per cent vote share for DMK and its allies, while the AIADMK-led alliance would get 30 per cent of the votes.
Others are poised to get 3 to 5 seats with 6 per cent vote share, according to the poll.
