Chennai:
Tamil film actor and leader of All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK), Sarath Kumar, met Tamil Nadu chief minister and AIADMK supremo J
Jayalalithaa in Chennai on March 23 and announced his decision to be part of the AIADMK-led alliance again for the May 16 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The AISMK had earlier decided to part ways with the AIADMK, even as its splinter group led by Ernavur Narayanan had decided to continue the association with the AIADMK-led alliance.
Sarath Kumar had also met BJP leaders in Chennai recently besides Union minister and BJP incharge for Tamil Nadu, Prakash Javdekar, and announced that his party had joined the BJP-led front in Tamil Nadu.
However, in an unexpected development, Sarath Kumar was granted an appointment by Jayalalithaa on March 23 morning. Shortly after the meeting, Sarath Kumar said he had decided that his party would continue to be part of the AIADMK-led alliance. He said certain well-intentioned friends had spoken to both sides and created this conducive situation.
