Chennai:
Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa has axed Minister for Milk and Dairy Development B.V. Ramanaa from the State cabinet. An official communication from Raj Bhavan said that Governor K. Rosaiah accepted the recommendation of the Chief Minister to allot the portfolio to P. Mohan, who already holds the portfolio of Rural Industries and Labour.
Ramanaa was also removed from the AIADMK party post of Tiruvallur (West) secretary with immediate effect. Kancheepuram (North) district secretary and Walajabad MLA P. Ganesan will hold additional charge, said Jayalalithaa in a communication.
This is the second time that Ramanaa has been ousted from the State Cabinet. The Tiruvallur MLA was in the State council of ministers when the AIADMK returned to power in 2011, holding the portfolio of Handlooms and Textiles, Environment and Forests, and later Revenue. Jayalalithaa ousted him from the Cabinet in May 2014 when he was Commercial Taxes Minister. He was again brought back to the ministry in September 2014 after Madhavaram MLA M. Moorthy was removed from the Council of Ministers.
