New Delhi, August 10: A strong earthquake of 6.7 magnitude today jolted several parts of Pakistan, and jolted Afghanistan, Jammu and Kashmir and several parts of North India.
The epicentre of the quake was in the border region of Afghanistan and Tajikistan at the depth of about 200 km, according to Geo TV.
The tremor was felt in various parts of the country including Islamabad, Faisalabad, Mianwali, Peshawar and Sargodah.
It also hit Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK).
So far, there was no report of any loss to life or property from any area of Pakistan.
A 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit Afghanistan's Hindukush region, while tremors were felt in various parts of India. The earthquake shook buildings in New Delhi.
So far, there are no reports of any loss of lives or damage to property.
The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has put the quake magnitude at 6.2.
As per the IMD, the quake's epicentre was in Hindukush region of Afghanistan at a depth of 210 kilometres. The quake's Latitude was 36.5°N and Longitude 71.3°E.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has updated information on its website as regards the quake that hit Afghanistan.
As per the USGS, the 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck at 3:35 pm. It was epicentred 34 kilometres west-southwest of Ashkasham in Afghanistan, or 287 kilometres
northeast of capital Kabul at a depth of 223.1 kilometres.
The earthquake shook buildings in New Delhi on Monday afternoon. People were seen coming out of buildings in Delhi.
Tremors were also felt in Kashmir valley and other parts of north India.
Panic-stricken people ran out of homes and offices as buildings swayed in Kashmir.
