The special court in Bengaluru has convicted Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa's close aide Sasikala Natarajan also in the disproportionate case along with the AIADMK supremo. The court also convicted Jayalalithaa's former adopted son and Sasikala's relative V N Sudhagaran and another relative of Sasikala, Ilavarasi, in the same case.
Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa has been found guilty in the disproportionate assets (DA) case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The Special Court Judge John Michael D’Cunha will pronounce a detailed verdict at 3 p.m. today in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case.
Sudhagaran's marriage during Jayalalithaa's first term when he was declared her adopted son had created a massive controversy following lavish display of wealth by Sasikala and her relatives during the wedding.
Special Court Judge John Michael D’Cunha convicted her on September 27, 2014, in the 18-year-old disproportionate assets case.
The AIADMK chief has been charged with amassing Rs 66.65 crore between 1991 and 1996 when she was Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
