Chennai: Hollywood biggie Arnold Schwarzenegger called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa at the State Secretariat here on September 15, 2014.
The former Governor of California and 67-year-old actor had a chat with the CM for nearly half an hour.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, who sported a grey blazer, did not talk to mediapersons but gladly posed for the photographers and videographers.
Later, Arnold said he appreciated the various schemes to promote renewable energy including wind power and the social welfare schemes of the Tamil Nadu Government particularly the noon meal scheme for schoolchildren, for women and destitutes, old age pensioners, and for speedy industrialisation of the State. He said he was impressed with the development schemes of the State and its all-round growth.
When he patted the back of a cop on security duty, the gathering of cops and onlookers cheered him.
In a brief interaction with mediapersons, Arnold said he was stunned to see over 1,000 people at the airport when he landed in India in the wee hours of the morning. It showed that the people were passionate about cinema.
Responding to a question, he said he would be glad to work in an Indian film at a later date. He said India was a big market for movies made overseas, and he was glad that foreign films were doing well in the Indian circuit.
The Hollywood star is in Chennai to participate in the audio launch of Tamil film director Shankar’s movie, I, starring Vikram and Amy Jackson, which has music score by A R Rahman.
