Many parties would celebrate the success of 37 out of 40 seats. But Jayalalithaa, AIADMK supremo and Tamil Nadu chief minister, is made of different mettle. No failures for her. Having announced mission 40 out of 40, though the AIADMK won 37, Jayalalithaa sacked three of her ministers and six party functionaries for the loss of just three seats -- Dharmapuri and Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu and the lone seat of Puducherry.
Jayalalithaa on Monday sacked three ministers and six district heads.
Minister for Revenue B V Ramanaa, Minister for Agriculture S Damodaran and Minister for Labour K T Pachamal were axed. In their places, she inducted Agri S S Krishnamoorthy, S P Velumani and S Gokula Indira, who were dismissed earlier.
The new ministers will take oath on Tuesday, a communique from Raj Bhavan said here.
Jayalalithaa also made changes in the portfolios of some ministers, allocating Revenue Department to R B Udayakumar who hitherto held Youth Welfare and Sports Development. K P Munuswamy, who now holds Municipal Administration and Rural Development, has been given Labour Ministry.
S Sundararaj will be the new Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare. He now holds Handlooms and Textiles department.
Agriculture portfolio has been allocated to Agri Krishnamoorthy, Municipal Administration to Velumani and Handloom and Textile Ministry to Indira, the communique said.
Sore over the loss in Kanyakumari, Dharmapuri and Puducherry, Jayalalithaa removed six party functionaries including Ramanaa (Tiruvallur North District Secretary). Others sacked were Kanyakumari East District Secretary A Sivaselvarajan, Kanyakumari West District Secretary D John Thangam, Dharmapuri District Secretary K P Anbhazhagan, MLA, Puducherry District Secretary A Anbhazhagan, MLA, Puducherry J Jayalalithaa Peravai Secretary Om Shakti Segar.
