Chennai:
AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa has expelled former IAS officer K Malaisamy from all posts in the party including primary membership for bringing disrepute to the party. The expulsion comes close on the heels of a statement made by Malaisamy that the AIADMK could extend
support to a NDA government at the Centre as Jayalalithaa and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi were close friends.
Malaisamy's statement had come as a surprise at a time when Jayalalithaa herself has avoided making any comment on the results of the elections and about the party stand in government formation at the Centre.
Malaisamy's statement had sent signals all over India that the AIADMK was inclined to join a BJP-led government at the Centre.
Jayalalithaa's firm action on May 15 has meant that Malaisamy had spoken out of turn and without any locus standi as far as the party was concerned.
The expulsion also meant that the AIADMK was keeping all options open. Many party leaders had during their campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu stated that Jayalalithaa would make the best Prime Minister in the country. Jayalalithaa herself had debunked the Gujarat model of government, projected by Modi, and said that the Tamil Nadu development model was far superior to that of Modi.
