Director Vijay and actress Amala Paul are to get married soon. A formal announcement is expected to be made shortly but sources close to the director said the event could take place in June, provided his next film Saivam is released on May 1 as planned.
Family sources said June 12 was a likely date but there was no confirmation yet of the date and venue. The sources merely said the marriage proposal had been okayed by both families.
The two have been close and speculation about the relationship gained ground during shoot of Thalaivaa which director Vijay made with actor Vijay and Amala Paul.
For the record Amala issued a brief statement on April 7 indicating the commitment biut declining to spell out the date. Amala said,
"Dear All, I wish to announce to my media friends about my future plans with Director Vijay once he arrives from his trip abroad. Until then I request the media friends to wait for authenticated reports on me, Director Vijay and our future.
Thank you
Amala Paul."
Amala had recently participated in the audio launch function of director Vijay's forthcoming film Saivam.
